Mick" Macklin, known for being a premier MLB money line handicapper, has been Chief Handicapper here at Top Shelf Chicago since 2005. He developed a system which filters through stats, trends, and consensus picks to select a winner and assign the correct margin of wager. We are avid believers in the premium play approach. Relying on very few if not a single play. This is in contrast to the industry standard of multi play cards. We put in the time to narrow the field and select the best plays. We play only what the card tells us is the best play, eliminating hedge bets and the bookie rake. A practice like this requires patience, knowledge and the savvy only acquired through years in this industry. To effectively use this system, the individual will need to accept these truths of the industry:
1. "Each and every bet is mutually exclusive to other bets"
Translation: Outcomes of former bets cannot influence future bets. If the action calls for a base wager, make the base wager. Do not "chase" a base bet to a strong bet. It only makes things worse.
2. "Effective gaming is a long term investment."
Translation: Making wagers on nationally broad casted games or exhibition games is fun but not always wise. If there is no post, don't make one. Thus constitutes the difference between wagering and betting. Wagering is a calculated skill. Betting built Caesar's Palace. It may take time to find one, but put your money in when the numbers are in your favor.
The true problem when you mix bettors with handicappers is they work on parallel planes. Bettors use handicappers primarily out of need, normally in chase mode. We have all been there. They are out for short term results. Handicappers measure themselves on a long term basis. We advise you stay with the system, weather as your sole source of sports information or to supplement your play list. The ability to do so is paramount to successful wagering today. We cover MLB, NFL, NCAAF, PGA, and NHL(note: no Basketball). The ability to consistently predict nearly 70% premium winners has set us apart. Please visit our Records page to familiarize yourself with our practices. All predictions are to be used for entertainment reasons only and your feedback is greatly welcome. Thank you and enjoy.
